I wanted to wait a couple years to get the new gen. Is now the time or are we close to a mid cycle refresh?

The dilemma I am working myself up over unfortunately is if I should wait for a mid cycle refresh now it just buy one this year.
I really want to get a mud bath off road premium long bed but now believe 2027 might be a mid cycle refresh just based on history.
What do yall think? Would you wait for the refresh or buy?

I would go for it. Mudbath will probably be gone in 2027 and Toyota updates Tacos really slowly, so I doubt that a whole lot will change for a while.

The only refresh will be the price.

If the truck you want is available now, get it now. Toyota historically waits 4-5yr for any mid-cycle changes anyway so I imagine 27s will not have any significant changes. My guess is 2028 at the earliest, and most likely 2029.

If you get caught up in the "wait for the next update" mindset you'll always be stuck waiting, or regretting your purchase because the next update will have new features. It's the same for trucks, electronics, bicycles, motorcycles, and many other markets.

Buy what you want and enjoy it.

When there is a refresh, there's no guarantee just because it's a refresh, that it will be an improvement. So it's years before a refresh, no guarantee you'll like it, much higher price, all equals buy now if they have what you want. If the refresh later is so fantazmo then you have the option to trade knowing you had years of fun with your 2025.

Good point. When they "refreshed" the 2nd gen Tundra in 2011 they decontented it and took away a lot of cool features. That is just as likely as them adding new stuff and for sure the prices will be higher.

If you do mind another color I would buy now, this Gen 4 will be around for a few more years and also it's the end of the year and the end of the month. Dealers are gonna want to sell off the 25's due the the 26's coming in and will be more willing to make a better deal.

Mud bath isn’t available on the 25 offroads, just on the 26s

I do not think there is a refresh in year 4. So buy now or a 2026.
I’m looking to replace my truck in 2027, it will be the 4th model year for the 4th gen and the Tacoma will be a contender on the short list. If there is any news of a refresh for year 5, I may wait a year.
