I still have mine on. I haven't decided whether to remove it or not yet. It doesn't really bother me.

My other pet peeve. Looks so stupid.
I don't have a lot of car pet peeves, but this is one of them. If I remember correctly, they are stamped with something like "to be removed by dealership" and yet, you still see so many of them running around.

Do they at least clear a parking lot concrete stop?
So far I haven't hit anything with it, but then, I haven't taken it offroad more than my dirt driveway. I see no practical value in it for aero considering it has two giant square openings to allow access to the towing points. At least they could have done what jeep did and made it a tool-less removal, or maybe spent the engineering somewhere else, like putting damn parking sensors on every trim instead of nickel and diming us to death. Either way, all the comments are interesting and point to the fact that everyone has their own view, and a screw driver.

It all depends on what you are mainly using your Truck for. If this is a daily driver and you drive 45 mph or more on average and you drive more than 12k a year, I would consider leaving it on until it falls off.

If you drive mostly around town and you don't do much highway driving, it only takes about 5 minutes (at the most) to take it off and toss it in the trash.

The cost savings (if your average drives are less than 45 mph tooling around) are so low that it really doesn't make a dent in savings.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you don't care, I wouldn't care.

I would guess that only a few outside of this forum really notices how stupid it really does look.

100% Truth.
Right now I'm not doing anything more than getting used to it, trying to figure out if I have buyer's remorse yet, and pretty much just daily driving it. My use is mixed highway/city at the moment. The chin doesn't bother me enough to rip it off, but it also doesn't add anything for me. I don't have anybody to wheel with so I'm in no hurry to make the truck offroad worthy either. Only reason I would take it off right now is to keep it new for resale (in terms of stock). You're dead on in your points though.

I had the “Airdamn” (intentionally spelled) for the first year or so.
After changing the oil myself that damn has to go. I don’t jack my trucks to change oil and that damn dam made it difficult to do oil changes.

Now THAT'S a reason. I have a feeling that might be the deciding factor for me too. I also wonder if hooking up a strap to one of the "recovery" points will end up just taking care of it for me at some point.

I still get 25-27MPG freeway with 265/70/17s and steel wheels.

Bad MPG on these trucks is from bolting too much crap to them (roof specifically) and skill issue.
Slightly off topic, but since you introduced it: Your comment seems a bit strongly worded. There are a lot of folks, including myself, with stock vehicles that have never gotten even close to the EPA rating. Let alone exceeding it by 12.5% as you indicate you're getting.

Hyper-milers. Generally you can get the advertised or better than advertised mileage if you're traveling less than 60-65mph on the interstate and are very light on the turbo around the city.

I'll never see that lol.

Stay light on the skinny pedal. When you hear the turbo spool, you're getting probably 1-5 MPG instant/realtime.

Going Bay Area to LA we consistently see 25-26 MPG over 350 miles. That's almost an entire tank at freeway speed though, best case scenario. edit: (done this trip 3 times this year actually, same MPG every time)

I set the cruise to 68 and stay in the slow lane almost always on the freeway.

Biggest issue really is just trucks have zero aero. Above 70 you're pushing a giant brick through the air. Anything on the roof is an extreme detriment to the already poor aero.

My avg full tank range is ~360mi/15.5 gal (2.7 gallon reserve total tank is 18.2) puts me at 23 MPG, which would be a tank with 30% city and the rest busy Bay Area freeway with lots of traffic.

I don't speed in the truck cause pickup trucks are some of the worst handling vehicles on the road when it comes to emergency maneuvers. If you have to dodge something at freeway speeds there's a good chance you'll lose control or roll.

I don't believe the full CBI skids on my truck contribute to the aero. The Diode pods on the bumper also didn't change MPG.

I see a lot of guys with ditch lights on the A pillars. Those also probably hurt MPG a fair bit. Keeping the airflow smooth over the windshield and roof is key.

Also using 91 will help your MPG a little. MPG gain or not it's better for the T24A-FTS / any turbo engine.

I’ll add my newbie 2c here. Doing math in actual fuel used, it gets better mpg than the display shows. Actual vs average being the reason.

I don't calculate nor do I try to be any bit conservative with my throttle (if you've ever driven I95 In FL you'll understand), and I'm reading 18.7mpg over 27k, without ever resetting my calculation.

Here's a TH owner getting close to the EPA rating, I'm sure if they went below 70 on the freeway they'd hit the 24 number the truck is rated for.

I don't really understand the complaints. The T24A-FTS behaves like a high compression NA engine when it's not in boost.

People complained about the 2.7 2TR-FE in crew cab 4x4 rigs but they were never "unusable" on the street. It's even rated to tow 3500lb.

I'm pretty confident the T24A-FTS makes more than the 2TR-FEs 160hp when out of boost (considering 11:1 comp vs 10.2:1). The only difference is when you are wide open on a NA 4 banger you're still gonna make 15 MPG lol. If you drive around with your foot in a T24A powered truck, you're gonna average 15 MPG (because in boost you're getting about 5).

You now have the best of both worlds, stay out of boost and you have a reasonably powerful 4 banger, but if you need more power you have a quick spooling tiny twin scroll turbo.

My brakes still have some cross hatch on them, and I've got 10,8xx miles on the truck. I'm not a hypermiler but I also don't race around town, it's not a sports car.

If I drive/accelerate slow in OC or especially LA I’ll get shot
Drove around LA for 3 days seeing some friends, still got 25 MPG and nobody got mad. People can go around, not my problem.

I don't expect trucks to be fast when I'm in my WRX.

In fact, I get more annoyed when I see guys in trucks do reckless shit and speed in some of the heaviest and poorest handling vehicles on the road.

I drive 95 in Florida very much. I’m the guy doing the speed limit or maybe a touch over. I’m clocking around 22 to 23 normally but if it were that much of a thing for me, I’d not be in a truck. I’m more curious what I can get than I am chasing mpg.
