Yeah but which one though? I only wanted the start like most people, but now that it’s bundled you have those couple of options between navigation or streaming Apple Music or android music. When I called the helpline, the guy on the other end insisted, and I mean, I checked with him two or three different times, that you still had to have a data plan in order to use the streaming Apple Music option. I said that doesn’t make any sense since it’s already on my phone and using data? What exactly would I get using that option? Anyway, I went with navigation although I use Waze figuring I would try and solve this question later on. Does anybody have any idea if the actual data is included in the music package? I assume it is since you’ve gotta be getting SOMETHING for the extra money??

I let mine expired and then subscribed but only lasted a month before I cancelled, IMO is not worth it, at least for me. I do not need the remote start function from afar, LOS with the key fob is enough for me. All other functions, I already get with Apple Car Play.

Let’s end this thread. Only suckers will pay $15 a month for a service that is not needed. Remote start with your keyfob and use Apple CarPlay or android. Keep feeding Toyota the subscription and they will be convinced the suckers are willing to pay for it and continue this crap with future cars.

One thing that bothers me about the fee is not that Toyota needs it to maintain or upgrade tower communications because their vehicles already have a feature that lets the dealer know when I need to schedule an appointment. They text and tell me, so the company is "talking" with the rig already. Not a subscription fee fan. Used the mapping feature a few times in the first year and liked it, but the same feature is included on my phone. For just $11 a month you can feed a dog, wash your car, etc., etc.......

I have a couple of tips for you that might enable you to pry open that wallet and part with the 15 bucks every month.
0BA5C445-FBCF-4237-9083-31ACF526B197.webp

1. Skip the 2 pumps of caramel with a sprinkle of nutmeg on your Starbucks Latte. If you drink 1 latte every weekday, you will end up saving 16 bucks per month.
2. Turn off the lights when you leave a room.
3. Turn down the thermostat a few degrees.
4. Don't tip your hair dresser so much.
5. If your state has bottle return laws, ask your friends and neighbors if they can donate their bottles to you. Then, in essence, your friends and neighbors are paying for your Toyota Connected

these are just some examples to get you started.
Or you could do those same things and keep your $15 per month?

I am guessing on another thread you could post how you could save $15 per month by cancelling useless subscriptions and not have to worry about cutting out on doing the things that you suggested cutting out? 🤔

I personally let most subscriptions cancel. I am guessing that most on this forum that have purchased a new Tacoma can afford the subscriptions without doing those "tasks" needed to come up with the $15 per month.

Just sayin'..............

Only jive turkeys call other people suckers for freely spending their own money on what they choose. I understand that everything you do and have is bigger, better, longer, faster, more expensive and thicker and we need to just be quiet and emulate you. Stop taking yourself so serious, I did. 😉

Im not the one saying that the subscription is useless. To me it is more important than two pumps of caramel and a sprinkle of nutmeg. 👍🏻

You can opt out of having your truck communicate with Toyota.

I travel a lot, and several times a year I need to leave my truck parked for extended periods. I like the service because a) I can check in on it when I'm out of the country b) I can start it and let it run a bit when I'm away for several weeks and c) in winter it's nice to start it when I get off the plane and have a warm, defrosted (or cold in summer) cab by the time I get there.

That’s the problem with subscriptions these days. Everything, and yes, everything, has a price tag. You can’t go anywhere, do anything, or buy a product without someone offering a “premium” add-on to make it better.

And of course, they’re banking on people forgetting about their subscriptions (guilty) so the charges (and profits) keep rolling in while nobody notices.
I don’t recall the name at the moment, but
there is a song one with the lyrics:

“and it cost 40 bucks just to hang out”

Ain’t that the truth!

OK sure, lets just go back to roll up windows, manual locks, and no air conditioning. Those once were standard equipment. You paid extra for power windows, locks, and A/C. It really is all about the owner and what they want, freedom to choose.

1. remote start is possible without the sub
2. Nav is possible without the sub

Some of us like the Wi/Fi and SOS features along with other stuff. Maybe it's because our love ones are driving these vehicles across state lines often. It doesn't matter because in this country you can do you, and I can do me.

Because your comment made zero sense. You can have virtually the same features without paying the subscription so your analogy was flawed. Learn to read and comprehend.
Have a great evening, hope things get better over the holidays.
