If you have the JBL system than the beatsonic amp won't do much. It acts as a preamplifier not an amplifier. So would do no more than turning the volume up.
Yes, it just adds gain to the head unit, and I already have a Beatsonic installed. It does help the sound more than I expected, but definitely doesn't fix it. I think the real solution will be replacing everything from the head unit through the speakers.

It really needs a better amp and a DSP so you can tune the system correctly. There are several ways that the JBL electronics degrade the sound, including that removable speaker and the front door speakers. I think the JBL electronics is a bigger problem than the quality of the JBL speakers, although they probably need replaced also.

I am ordering the PAC AP4-TY14. It sucks because it is quite expensive. But will allow you to install an amp and pretty much works as the DSP.

Yeah, that would definitely do the job, but as you said it is expensive. That might be my best solution but I was hoping not to spend so much money. I also think some rewiring will be needed so we can lower the gain on that center speaker.

I installed the Trail Grid kit over the weekend, along with the sound skins and Beatsonic amp.
I can say that the overall volume and clarity, compared to the factory JBL, are improved or increased. I don't have much seat time yet, but initial impressions are good. I'm happy with the outcome.

I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, but it feels like an improvement over stock JBL.

So are you saying that for the price of the Beatsonic Amp and Alpine speaker upgrade kit, it was worth it?

Overall, I think it's worth it. Adds up to include the amp and sound deadening but overall the system is much more powerful and has greater clarity. I'm sure you can get more if you spend more, but for a fully plug-and-play kit, it's certainly an improvement.

after hearing the bet sonic in a couple of the gen 4 Tacoma's I feel like the only way to go is to get a PAC Toyota interface, replace all the speakers, add an amp and build a custom sub box. I plan on getting to this before the forts week of October.... I'll keep ya posted

I received my order for 25 TRD OR Hybrid Non-JBL, and installed last night.

The included mounting brackets, wire harnesses, hardware was good quality.

Install was easy I was able to get all 6 speakers in in about an hour.

My impressions…. I already did have a Beat Sonic ENA-2T3 amp installed which did make a difference compared to stock. So, after installing these Alpine components, I can say that wow, the clarity of the music is much improved, the front sound stage coming from the two dash speakers is unbelievable compared to before. The bass from door speakers is much cleaner and punchier than the stock speakers.
I did pull the dash open and increase the gain on the Beat Sonic, to try and push as much juice as possible to these speakers.

My only complaint/observation would be that I do wish that while the bass is much cleaner (less just pure vibration/noise compared to stock), I wish there was more or the bass would be louder at lower volume levels. It certainly wakes up the more you increase the volume, but so do treble/mids too which again given the much improved front sound stage just makes it loud in general. Maybe I need a component amp or an actual sub…. Sadly I don’t think there is ANY place to put a sub in the Hybrid, and I likely don’t want to pay the necessary costs to make an ideal setup anyway.
If anyone had any creative sub ideas I’m all ears…. I have an Alpine mono sub amp and a 10” Memphis sub in my basement collecting dust, but I just don’t think I’ve got the enclosure volume to fit it anywhere.

In closing, I’m happy with these Alpine components. Sounds amazing, a great improvement in sound quality over stock.

I just installed the 8 speaker system in my JBL equipped tacoma. To be honest, it isn't worth it. The highs are better, but if you leave the center channel connected the system is way worse balanced than before. The center drowns out the dash and pillar speakers. I deadened the doors but they still rattle way to much with bass. I am going to have to go the route of bypassing the JBL and amping the speakers and see if i can prove the overall sound.
As of right now, if you have the jbl system and are not going to amp these speakers, I would pass. The stock speakers work better off the jbl amp.
As I stated from the get-go, but a few attacked cuz I was raining on their party they thought they were going to have after installing this kit......
Dont touch the JBL system unless youre going to use a real amp, not the beat sonic band-aid...
Need real power & balance, need an entire balanced system or it will just be a rattle trap.....
Those speakers in that kit are NOTHING special, majority of the cost goes into plug & play & adapters. Need real power to supply what is needed for real speakers, to get real sound & balance.

To those that pm'd me with questions, sorry....
I just responded, guess I dont get email notifications from this forum when someone quotes you or pm's you.
I responded to your question.
