Not running a tune, but I will get a hesitation for sure if I goose it and then try and throttle up again. Not sure if that's what you're talking about or not, but that's not specific to a tune.

Mine seems to do this also, especially noticeable when merging from a stop, turning right onto a major road with 45mph signs. I think it's the traction control doing it's thing. When going home and leaving from that same intersection, traction control off, I get wheel spin. In the dry.
Please get in touch with your retailer if you have not already done so. Nothing can be solved here. We'd like to take care of you and figure out what may/may not be happening by collecting some data from the truck.

Thank you for your input, got with the tuner. He's going to have a look at it tomorrow, may need to reflash it due to my truck being an oddball. He said Justin knows what the problem is, I guess Justin is the boss man. Will definitely keep yall updated, appreciate all the help.
UPDATE
Got with my ott tuner today. He was able to correct my issue. These guys really are on top of things and the customer service is top notch. The truck runs like a dream, better hp and torque and I'm actually still getting better MPG than before the tune. Absolute WIZARDRY.

What was the issue?
I had an issue with my manual Tacoma with this tune. It was always on 93 octane. It would hesitate under load and blow black smoke out of my exhaust between 1700-2300 rpms when accelerating with boost. So much that it was turning my silver bumper a dark gray. Ended up having it data logged and they couldn’t find a problem with the tune. My truck was 100% fine with the stock tune so I opted for a refund with my local tuner. I’m wondering if anybody else has had this issue with a manual Tacoma.
It was surging during acceleration, not all the time just sometimes. Usually when i was around 70% throttle getting onto the interstate accelerating from 45 to 50. It would only do it when I was in normal mode but the tuner updated the tune and fixed it right up. Hasnt done it since.

We've reworked the control strategy on Manual Calibrations to better manage boost control for drivers loading the truck up at low RPM and high throttle input without affecting output above 2K RPM. These updates are now standard for all Manual Calibrations.
