Appreciate the response however, mine was not able to be remedied at the time I was with my tuner. I received a revision and it basically felt like a stock tune. That is why I went back to Stock. I had to drive an hour and a half each way two separate times and spend my time getting your tune that was not right. Long story short I wasted my time and I drove my vehicle with a tune that was not right for over a month. Im wondering if any damage was done to my engine from the faulty tune that may show up down the road.

Drove down to TX to spend a little time with a buddy I served with and we spent this weekend hanging out and wheeling at the Toyota Jamboree in TX. Anyway, met up with the OTT crew while I was there and chatted about the 4G tunes. I really can’t stand the rev hang my truck has, so I wanted to see what they had to say about that. They assured me they could address that with their tune. I went with their rev hang reduction file with Stage 1 and have to say, it was immediately evident. There is still some inertia so it’s not like a sports car, but much better than that artificial hanging. Power is solid and does exceptionally well on the interstate. Easy to drive and modulate offroad as well.

I spent a few hours chatting with them and a few of the ppl they tuned at the event. Rode in a trail hunter they did and holy crap! The hybrid torque was impressive but I couldn’t deal with the constant sucking noise in the passenger window. To each his own I guess.

Thank you Kaleb @ OTT for the tune and answering my questions! It’s been much more pleasant to drive on the trip home with a layover in Moab for more fun!

Got mine tuned by TacoSlayer today and went with Stage 1 Enhanced.

I noticed the difference right off the bat! I can def tell how the transmission shifts so smooth like butter, acceleration very smooth, and less lag. What I like about the tune is the reduced time for the turbo spool.

The tune gave no little effort to accelerate than I had to give little more effort to press the gas pedal to get the truck going.

I was using the ACC heading home, and I notice there was not much action from the turbo gauge than with the stock tune which is great. There was plenty of torque with the tune and def felt like V8.

Good Job, OTT!

It is a truck with a 4 banger not a sports car. I just could not imagine the juice is worth the squeeze for the potential damage and warranty decline. To each his own I guess but just doesn't seem to be there.

Impressive power numbers across the board from this ā€œ4 bangerā€. A simple tune and you’re making NA V8 outputs. Pretty impressive. Yes, to each their own.

Isn't the base Tundra like 358? I watched the OTT video and Tacoma was getting 307.

You will be surprised with the tune.

my old MK8 GTI was tuned with Unitronic stage 1 + GBX and it makes 361HP and 377HP. It is stupid fast and keep up with E92 M3 V8 and can walk STI easily. It is impressive how a tune can make a difference.

the tune on my truck is what I expected to be, not a race truck like Raptor. It fixes the transmission shifting in 1st and 2nd gear, reduce the turbo spool time, smooth out the power band, and improve the drivability. Heck, I get 20mpg during my commute to work and it is 45 miles one way. My truck has 285 Wildpeak AT4W and they’re 53 lbs per and it has RRW wheels (20lbs per). I am happy with the tune overall.

Get the tune and see for yourself.

That's a sweet setup! I think something like that would work well for me and my adventures. I've been thinking about some combination of rack/RTT or something like a GFC but I'm really reserved on stacking on all the weight full time on the truck. Glad you shared that pic!

But regarding the ATL tuner. We're onboarding him now and will be getting him up to speed in the coming weeks. I could put you in touch with Jamey @ Central Georgia Tuning. He's covering the area in the meantime, and I'm sure he'd be happy to take care of you. Let him know I sent ya!

You can reach him here:

Scheduled with Jamey next week. Actually taking two buddies with me that have 3rd gen’s and we’re all getting tuned. Thanks. šŸ‘

@JustDSM, was just reading thru FAQs on the website in anticipation of getting tuned today and saw that the dealer can recognize a change in the CVN number within the ECU. What is that and how does it apply to the 2024 ECU?

Seems like it's basically the ECU checksum.

Great question, and I appreciate you doing your homework ahead of time.

There’s a lot of misunderstanding (and sometimes intentional misinformation) floating around when it comes to flashing ECUs. One of the more common myths is that aftermarket tunes somehow ā€œflagā€ the ECU in Toyota’s systems or trigger a red flag for dealer software. That’s not the case with our calibration.

To clarify:
Our tune does not trigger a flash counter, leave behind a flag in Toyota's diagnostic tools, or show up in Techstream as anything out of the ordinary. There’s no ā€œtunedā€ status that’s stored or transmitted in the ECU after flashing.

Now, regarding CVNs (Calibration Verification Numbers) that’s a separate matter. Every calibration Toyota releases has a unique CVN. When we apply a new calibration, that CVN will naturally change. But here’s the important part:
There is no master database of ā€œcorrectā€ CVNs that dealership techs reference. With tens of thousands of CVNs across all models and configurations, it’s simply not feasible. Technicians are paid on a flat rate and generally focus on resolving the issue at hand as quickly as possible. For them to notice a CVN difference, they would need to 1) know what it was supposed to be for your exact software version, and 2) be looking for it, which in practice, they just don't do.

What you saw on our FAQ page is us being upfront and transparent. We're not in the business of hiding anything or pushing people into something they’re uncomfortable with. The CVN change is simply a technical reality of modifying a calibration.

For what it’s worth, we’ve only seen CVNs come into question during emissions testing in certain CARB states. The good news is we’re actively working on CARB EO certification, which will make our calibration compliant across all 50 states, including those that currently require strict emissions conformity.

Hope that helps clarify it!

The wall of torque in the dyno chart is anything but understressed šŸ˜‚

Hope Toyota made the bottom ends stout. Guess we will find out lol definitely never tuning my truck.

Edit:
125hp/Liter post tune is no joke, that's more than an EJ STI. Those exploded for entirely different reasons, but were in no way an "understressed" motor. They also had the benefit of shorter OCI (Subaru recommended 3,000 miles), thicker oil, single scroll turbo tuned for higher RPM torque, and lower compression (reduces risk of knock/LSPI), and despite all this still sometimes blew up šŸ˜‚

These offset rods better be good shit 😳

Sorry to hear about your Subaru!

I have an EJ WRX hatch which is very un-exploded right now, runs great actually.

The T24A is undoubtably stronger than something like the square FA20 in the 2015+ WRX, which also had offset rods, and lots of low end torque built into the factory tune (which for sure killed some of them).

I'm curious to see how long these last tuned. At least Toyota had the bright idea of including dual injection, so carbon buildup isn't going to be an issue, and the port injectors will keep the cyl temps lower, so less chance of major knock events. It also has cool stuff like double oil squirters and the beefy crank case stiffener.

If someone gets 100k out of a tuned 4G, that's a very good sign for anyone who stays stock.
