How far did you go to pick up your 4th Gen Tacoma?

45 miles. Wanted to check out a dealer's pre-owned GX 460 but a Tacoma in their lot caught my attention. Now here I am enjoying every bit of it!

Flew into Phoenix, AZ to drive back to SLC, UT. Wanted the exact spec of upgrade package + multimedia without moonroof, since Toyota wasn't making them for the region I'm in. Was a good deal, I think.

As far as the blew up - smoked 2017 F150 King Ranch 155k miles got me, I knew sometime it was going to be a goner.. the darn engine ticks were just getting worse and worse over the past 6 months - I had it in the shop 3 times with minor fixes, but dam if I'm shucking out $15k for a new engine and trany :( I was driving along the highway at 70mph for about 30 of my 50 min communte, and then that when things just went wrong!! without any warning - A big cluck and I'm down to 30 mph max speed with smoke coming out under the hood. I tender it towards the next exit, and it was still clicking and clacking, now with the windows down, I head it all about ding - dang - dong. It just so happens that at this highway exit there is a few auto dealerships... Of course, I keep moving until it dies RIGHT AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP'S ENTRANCE, didnt even get onto the parking lot, just the entrance. I walked onto the lot, and said I'm looking for a trade in, been wanting a used Tacoma but in this case, well, Left LOT with a 2026 TuRD Sport. So back to the question, I'm guessing about 50 ft.

Not sure if this counts but I bought my previous Taco (2019) online before replacing with my current 2025 Taco; never stepped on the dealers property. They delivered the car to my house and we signed all the paperwork at my kitchen table.

The way I see it, I'm buying the truck, not the dealership. I want the best deal on the truck, and will wait, or travel, as far as I need to get that best deal.

I just posted the basic tale of how I got to the dealership and found the truck I wanted, and just told the fellow that. I wasn't in any rush, was driving a 2yr old car I liked, and would never be back there because I was an hour and a half away. He nodded, went to the back for approval, and gave me the $2500 mfg holiday discount, got rid of the stupid dealer add-ons he could, and gave me top of range private sale price for my Crosstrek so I wasn't flipped on it. Shook his hand right there.

Just a casual thread to find out the distance you had to go to pick up your rig. I did a 40 miles trip to pick mine up.
