So every time I drive in a snow storm the truck lights up with error messages and I cannot clear the warnings off of the cluster as they come right back. Is there a way to get them to go away? I am fully aware that adaptive cruise won't work when the radar sensor is covered thank you very much.

They go away on their own once you clean the sensor off.
I want to just make the warning go away while I'm driving, I'm not really able to stop every 30 minutes to clean off the sensor I just want to ignore it.
I am not using any of the features it's warning me about either by the way

Only way is to go into the settings and shut down all of that stuff, then the warnings don’t come on. Typical Toyota with the over informed notifications.

Not sure how effective silicon spray would actually be, it might just leech into the environment without doing anything useful.

I have to go chip off the snow layer this morning but also have to dig out the car. Oh well

Are you going to sit on the hood during a snow storm and clear them off? It is dangerous as the warnings are a distraction and cleaning the sensor off every 10-20 minutes is more dangerous. Jeez.

Next winter, I'm going to coat my sensors with silicone spray.
It’s not gona matter much. Yes the snow might stick less but it’ll still bind to sensor. Only way would be if you could heat them consistently or something.

You really think they drove one of these trucks through a blizzard to test this exact situation? Fk no :cwl:

This exact complaint is all over TW for 4Gs too, and I'll say what I said there, software these days is trash. Nobody tests anything properly. I work in software, I know.

I have just learned to expect the warnings to come on in sleet and snow, then wait till the storm passes, or I need to stop for some reason. I brush off the sensor and the backup camera before continuing, fully expecting the warnings to return if it's still snowing. It's a thing.

Almost drives one to simply buy a TRD OR to not get all that fancy crap. I actually don't need Adaptive Cruise because I am old fashioned and keep my eyes on the road. Don't need ABS brakes either or lane departure or blind spot monitoring etc. Heard the TH is a bear with all the sensor warnings. Probably why a 25 TH is for sale near me listed at $72k CDN down from list of $87K CDN with only 2000kms on it.

The funny part is that it's probably not intentional. Someone maybe tested this, saw the error didn't go away, sent the Software Team Lead a question:

"Hey should this sensor error permanently clear after the use dismisses it once? It's pretty annoying and distracting to the driver"

"Just leave it as is"

https://www.iso.org/obp/ui/en/#iso:std:iso:26262:-1:ed-2:v1:en

Read a sample of ISO 26262 and I can't find any specific text that says the error should be repeated *until* safe state is exited, only that it has to be displayed once. It's also good to know ISO 26262 isn't legally required, and manufactures follow it as a means to test stuff like TSS
