We’ve not had our hands on that system yet, but knowing Banks I’d feel comfortable saying it’ll be just fine on our tune.
What about the Power Banks boost tubes? will those be fine too? Hopefully you guys can test both systems. I would imagine they will free up a little more power.

Does the raised rev limiter on the manual trucks have any adverse effect on the transmission or drivetrain? I know it was limited in the first place because of “crankshaft hammering”. Not really sure what that means but raising the limiter seems a bit concerning since it was limited from factory.

How much time do you spend above 5000RPM?

If you spend considerable time at high RPM, yes, it's inevitably going to generate more 'wear' relative to lower RPM operation.

Brief and occasional use, that is situational, isn't going to have a meaningful impact, in our opinion. If you wish to retain the OE limiter, just let us know; we're happy to oblige. It's not mandatory.

Sorry I guess my question was a bit vague. Is there anything that y’all have found in testing tied to the “crankshaft hammering” or other issues specifically in the manual transmission Tacomas that are caused by reving the engine past factory limit? Also would changing this limiter pop up during a warranty claim?

I wish I wasn't too scared of losing my warranty by doing this. Maybe in 3 years..
Not trying to convince you but I have a 2015 BMW X5 with a piggyback tune installed since day one and after 10 oil changes (oil changes are once a year intervals) and I have had zero issues with the dealerships. Now if there was an issue with my engine and the dealerships couldn’t pinpoint the issue then they can easily blame my tune as the problem and deny warranty. But… dealerships don’t really care because any warranty work they do are being reimbursed by the manufacturer as long as they can provide support that it is the manufacturer’s defective issue. Just some food for thought.

Thank you for reaching out and inquiring about the 4th Gen Tacoma downpipe. We’re holding off on officially opening orders until we finish dyno testing with our Stage 2+ and Stage 3/3+ calibrations, as we want to be fully transparent about its performance before releasing it publicly.

Appreciate your interest and support!

@JustDSM any changes made to the shifting in 4low? after spending lots of time in 4low, the way the truck shifts from factory in 4low is just terrible, over revving the whole time. It would be really nice if you could tune it to keep the rpms a bit lower since it feels so good in that 2k-3k range

Tim,

Our standard files do not contain adjustments to the shift schedule in 4Lo, however, we absolutely can do a custom file with edits to the 4Lo shift schedule. There would be a small upcharge for the custom work to the tune, but we could absolutely make that happen if it's something you'd really like to have.

If you think this is something you'd really like in a calibration from us, please send us an email ([email protected]), and we can start a dialogue to ensure we deliver what you're after.

I do know exactly what you're referring to, however!

Looking to buy a 4th Gen taco soon.
I am very interested in the downpipe. How much does the sound change? Is it much louder? @JustDSM
