Rough engine engagement

So I just picked up a 25 with the I-force max. I’ve noticed when accelerating from a stop, there’s a thud/clunk when the engine appears to kick on/engage. Almost like the engine is engaging the drivetrain.

it’s heard/felt in the rear.

New to anything hybrid so wondering if this is “normal” for a hybrid set up?

That does not sound normal. Perhaps go take a test drive at another dealer to compare? Assuming its not normal, you'll know how much of a fight to give the service department.

I have a 25 Limited hybrid. There is a noticeable engine engagement, but not a clunk. If I'm driving in traffic, I'll put it in tow haul mode so it doesn't turn off the engine. Also after a long highway drive, before getting off the highway, I'll put it in tow haul so the engine doesn't turn off at the first traffic light and the turbo is still hot.

Mine has never clunked - but i test drove one that had rough shifting.

If I'm driving in traffic, I'll put it in tow haul mode so it doesn't turn off the engine.
Pushing the shifter to the left (sport mode) seems to do that as well.

If you are in normal and "d", then it should be super smooth other than an extremely mild sensation of the ice motor starting up that matches perfectly with the tach jumping from zero to about 1k rpm, then climbing. Anything else needs to be looked at by the dealership

This is probably a better description of what im noticing. You can hear/feel the ICE kicking in and grabbing the drivetrain.

Curious if this is simply the engine engaging from battery power when at a stop. There is a second or so delay and you can hear/feel the gasoline engine kick in.

This is probably a better description of what im noticing. You can hear/feel the ICE kicking in and grabbing the drivetrain.
There still shouldn't be a thud/clunk when the ICE is applied. The transition on mine is smooth, seamless.
