This guy's personality drives me a bit nuts, but he knows more about engine oil than I want to, so I think he's worth listening to.

Perhaps on cold nights, he sips a mug full of warm 0w-20.

Can you trust the advice provided by your owner's manual, especially when it comes to oil change intervals? As a Certified Lubrication Specialist, I review the advice provided by the owner's manual and compare that with the data we've collected from thousands of used oil samples from new engines during the critical break-in period.

Him and the Project Farm guy should team up, but you'd have to keep their voices on mute! 🤣

This is Lake Speed Jr. His father was a NASCAR racer for years and JR worked for Joe Gibbs Racing and developed their lubrication program. He also developed Driven racing oil product. I use Driven DI20 in my truck thanks to this guy. I highly recommend everyone to do exactly what he says to do if you want the best for your engine.

Yeah, he knows the subject, but I’ve never taken his advice. That’s after multiple vehicles and hundreds of thousands of miles. I’ve never pre-filled filters, and I’ve often gone 10,000 miles between oil changes. I've probably used every brand out there. The result? Engines that run perfectly with zero issues.

For the folks changing oil at 500, 1,500, or 3,000 miles and sending out samples for analysis—what’s the plan if the results aren’t great? Change it every 1,000 miles? If you're that worried, just change it every 5,000 and move on.

Then there's the whole ā€œcheap insuranceā€ or ā€œpeace of mindā€ argument. Insurance from what, exactly? That logic makes it sound like skipping a super frequent schedule means your engine is doomed.

Everyone’s got their own way. Spend as you see fit. My trick? Good oil and filters. I know, living on the edge.

Lake Speed Jr, certainly knows his motor oil. I've watched a bunch of his videos. I enjoy learning things, but to your point, he's painful for me to watch/listen to and usually bypass most of his video's these days.

I have been running it for a year, and Toyota recommends 5w30 and even 10w30 for non North American ā€œcafeā€ rating locations.. for this T24A-FTS engine
interesting
