Thanks. We were very lucky, only doing about 30mph in town. Saw the mom standing on the right side of the road. Her little one ran in front of me from the left side and I didn't see it until it's ears flashed in front of the passenger headlight. Went back and there was no sign of it.

Part 1 // DIY gear slide finished βœ…

WISA HEX ULTRALITE marine 3/4”
60” HD SLIDES full ext although my final install shows 83% extension (2nd latch)
72” x18” platform
2020 aluminum extrusion & hardware tie-in (support stringers)
4 L track anchors, unbolts in ~8min, right or left side of bed.
~$200 all in. Discount on the on the slides & picked up a 4x8 sheet of the WISA for $80 (corner defect / ~$23 for the cut piece/ using the rest for a 2nd level bench & misc utility panels)
Weight penalty 52lbs with hardware. Could go lighter in the future, ~85% of the weight in the slides, supports ~150# max at termination fully extended although manufacturer says 200# not gonna test it with my 2020 fasteners

After waiting over a month for my Greenlane sliders to arrive and watching their install video at least 5 times they finally came in. The install was a breeze and all hardware was present. I went 9.5 years with my 3rd gen Tacoma and never needed them since I don't go offroad, at least not on purpose. However, it is better to have them and not need them rather than need them and not have them. This is a philosophy that I have with other things in my life as well. If they would have been installed at the dealer them my youngest daughter never would have put the first small dent and scratch in my truck the first day of ownership when she opened her door and hit my truck. She wept about it but I reassured her that she was more important to me than a million new trucks. My wife was the one who actually initiated this purchase since she said that my new truck sat up higher than my old truck so she wanted something to step up on to get in this truck. I went with Greenlane since they are one of the few who make aluminum sliders and when I weighed them they were only 28 pounds each which is about half of what steel sliders weigh. They were great since they are in Canada and we were both concerned about tariffs going up on September 1st. The made then in just one week and shipped them out. Great company with a great product.
