Installed a pair of left and right bed storage boxes. Thanks to Jlevitt95 over at Tacoma World for and excellent write up to reference.

Found the boxes on eBay for $150 delivered. Listed as a set, removed from a ‘12 Tacoma. Took about 2 hours to install and was fairly straightforward thanks again to the write up. The only thing to note was the inner-most upper rivet, on both sides, ended up right next to a bed reinforcement. Although both rivets did expand and torque down just fine, moving the measurements about a 1/4” towards the rear of the truck would give the rivets a tad more room to expand.

Made a 200-mile round trip yesterday to buy used camping gear for the Subaru. Got a 5’ Kammok awning and Trailhead RTT for $900, items are 2 years old. Pic attached of the ‘19 TRD Pro that those items came off.

We’ll try the 5’ Kammok on the truck too. Might try to find a used 7’ Kammok for the truck. Roof racks for each vehicle are ordered, Sherpa for both.

This morning made another 200-mile round trip to have our OTT tuner reinstall the Stage 1 tune on our Trailhunter after a dopey dealer reflashed my ECU to fix a problem. Thank you Q in Westminster, CA.

So nice to have the tune back in the truck’s matrix. Smoother shifts, she purrs nicer and got +2 mpg to boot. Truck has 9200 miles.

After yesterday’s exterior wash, we knocked out the installation of a new Sherpa Rainier roof rack starting this morning. It was straightforward and fun to get ‘er done. We may be repositioning the crossbars or adding one across the back depending on what we want to mount. Once I get the correct mounting hardware, we’ll put on the Kammok 7’ awning that I picked up used for $650. It may be that a crossbar on the back will block the trailer camera signal. For now, we’ll run with the bars positioned as is since we are going to be taking our trailer out soon.

We’re happy with this U.S.-made rack. The quality of every component including hardware is excellent.

Installed the OEM TRD Pro grill with the Diode Dynamics 20 inch lightbar. I chose the Pro grill instead of the TH grill because it has silver letters that go with my silver truck. I was happy with the looks of the Sport grill but I really wanted a lightbar so I went with the Pro grill. I watched the Rob Motive youtube video which was helpful but unclear on the part that really slowed me down which was releasing the tabs. There are 37 tabs in all and every time I would release one side the other side would click back in. Rob said it took him 3 hours but it took me almost 6 hours in the hot Florida sun (96*). I know that you guys in Arizona have much higher temps but there was so much humidity here that I almost saw my breath. After putting everything back together I went on a short test drive and 2 check engine lights popped up. One was for the grill shutters so I went back and disconnected the battery again and checked all of the connections. The grill shutter connection was a little loose so I apparently did not hear the click the first time around. I fixed that and went on another test drive with no check engine lights.

That came out great.
When clips are making me crazy by re-clipping themselves, I stick in folded blue tape as I go to keep them apart from their nesting spots.

I haven’t been doing much with the truck besides driving it every damn day, no issues

However I did learn what happens if you accidentally activate the 41.22 kill switch while driving a hybrid Tacoma, the truck shuts off and immediately starts back up but the screen goes blank in park, but as soon as you go back to drive the screen comes back up and you can still drive

I wanted to test it myself in a parking lot but never did, I guess the car wash is as good as any place
