Heated steering wheel mod

I’m a big fan of heated steering wheels, but I find the one in my Tacoma to be rather underwhelming. It’s better than nothing, but I also think it would be worthless in truly cold conditions.

Play around with your hand placement of you haven't. It feels like they they intentionally did different intensity in different areas. Between 4 & 8 o'clock on wheel, I find it to be mild/medium heat levels. Same with 11 to 1. But when your hands are right on the nubbed positions around 10&2 it's much hotter as if it's ramped up get through thin gloves or really heat your hands. In that position, I'm often turning it off after a few short minutes because my hands have gotten plenty warm.

No heated steering on my TRD Sport, but my sons RAV 4 has it, but at 7-11 and 1-5, not at top or bottom

Really??? I find mine almost gets to warm and I usually turn it off after about 10 minutes

There seem to be good ones and bad ones. I’m replacing my TRD-sport with a TRd-sport and noticed the new one feels like nothing is on at all compared to the old heated wheel. Engineer brain kicked in and I broke out the thermal camera. Seems there’s some kinda quality thing going on. I feel like they are supposed to be hot not just like warm

It’s kind of ironic this thread popped up today. I love the heated seats and wish I had a heated steering wheel.

Not all heated steering wheels are consistently equal it seems. Mine heats up quick and hot. I’ve test drove a few off the dealers lot and found some steering wheels weren’t as warm as mine. Those that don’t find the warmth of their steering wheel probably has the inadequate one unfortunately.

I used to use heated seats for when it was cold out, now I just use it for back pain relief

Mine is nice n toasty too—I shut it off after it initially warms my paws.
