In these engines, the oil pressure starts to build as soon as the starter turns the flywheel, or motor/generator turns the crank. The ECU won’t allow the engine to fire up until minimum oil pressure parameters are met first. The oil pump is primed and the oil system is at minimum pressure to start before the engine is allowed to start.
Gotcha, this makes sense to me, thank your for explaining this.

Oil pressure is relatively instantaneous

Watch the oil pressure gauge in the instrument display. As soon as it is visible it is already at full pressure - instantaneous as @JayZap said.

On my second oil change with 6300+miles ...I drain and add 5.9 and keep it moving...I guess I should checking the oil level...

Cold engine oil will do this.. is it the same after driving for 30 minutes, looking at that same oil pressure at a stop light?

Engine still cranks from a zero oil pressure, hence the engine bearing are made from soft metal alloys to provide a buffering effect until oil pressure and volume create the protective oil film layer. Great news, engines are lasting longer than ever before, so the engineering is improving, looking at average vehicle life is continually increasing.

Good question because you are right that I was talking about a cold start. My engine stops all the time once it is warm. so I will let you know.

An oil analysis will advise you if engine bearing/babbit

Oil analysis will show if you have babbit/engine bearing traces that are higher than average. Using lake speed jr’s oil analysis will provide an legit pathway for verifying any concerns you may have.. like comparing engine bearing/babbit material in the oil for a hybrid be non hybrid t24a-fts engine…if you have a hybrid with start/stop.. you can likely eliminate the start stop option, also help turbo charger life “IF” the start stop shuts an engine down immediately after a highway run, or stomping on the loud pedal..no matter what, enjoy the truck!

The only work around start/stop with hybrids is tow/haul mode.

Or an aftermarket software change…I chose to avoid an hybrid option… not to rub anyone’s nose in it. I just desired to eliminate risk and long term expense.
